A Complete Guide For "Surgery Study Material" | YT Academy

When you come into 5th  year of MBBS you have to learn surgery, and most students are confused about which material they have to study. In this Post, there is a complete guide for students as well as those who are doing PG in surgery.

NOTE: Text in Red Are Links To Respective Book, From where you can download

What do you need a surgery book for?

  • Is it to select a standard textbook to follow from day 1? (Bailey and Love)
  • Are you reading about the Liver? (Read SRB‘S Manual)
  • Do you feel like an idiot in the rounds or when the Senior Resident/Consultant has a question despite reading Bailey and Love religiously? (Look for that question in SRB)
  • Are you about to write an important exam and have no idea how to read first-time topics that are very huge? (Manipal Manual, Shenoy)
  • Are you wondering where you can find the answers to some topics like Triangle of Doom in Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery, Auchincloss, Scanlon’s MRM, and some General Surgery topics? (It’s in SRB)
  • Practicals? (Das and M.L Saha)
  • Did the teacher just ask you which book you read? (You have to say, Bailey and Love)
Schwartz may not always help a lot if you’re reading Bailey and Love already. Sabiston is a lot of reading to do. SRB is very difficult to memorize all of, but it answers most questions that are asked. It’s not fun to read, it’sa little like Sembulingam and Harshmohan.

Moreover, Surgery Books Can be graded as for toppers (FT), Standard (STD) and to pass the exams at the last time (TPL)

Surgery (Theory)

  • Bailey & Love (FT)
  • SRB (STD)
